5 Best Rides At Walt Disney’s Blizzard Beach!

During a recent trip to Walt Disney World, I found myself pondering which water park to visit.  My options were Seaworld’s Aquatica, Disney’s Blizzard Beach, or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.

Since I was staying inside Disney World at the Boardwalk resort, I clearly did not want to drive for about 20 or 25 minutes to get to a water park and have to deal with parking, and all of the extra things that you need to do before enjoying a water park.  After all I was on vacation.

I made the best decision for my children and I will explain why.  First of all let me tell you that I was traveling with a 15 year old, a 10 year and an 8 year old.  Now my choices were between Disney’s Blizzard Beach or Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Aquatica was out!  I ended up picking Blizzard Beach and I will tell you why.  It turned out to be the best decision for all parties involved.

While Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon has the tidal wave pool/beach and that is one incredible time, when those waves depart from the deepest section of the beach pool, the screams that the guest let out sends chills throughout any one’s body, I chose Blizzard Beach.   Here is why…This water park caters to middle aged pre-teen kids more than Typhoon Lagoon.  They have their very own area for kids that can accommodate kids from the ages of 7 to about 13.  They also have a kiddie section that is good for kids 5 and under. In Addition to what I believe are 5 of the best rides at any water park.

Here they are in no specific order of best to worst, just in an order to my liking:

  1. Summit Plummit ( Don’t eat before going down this one)
  2. Family Raft (holds 5 easily)
  3. Kiddie rides and slides for kids under 5.
  4. Pre-teen rides and slides for kids under 14.
  5. Ski Slope lift to the top of Summit Plummit.

A word of advice if you venture to any water parks this Summer.  Make sure that your kids and you are wearing some kind of water shoes, or flip flops to make sure that you do not get any kind of burning to the bottom of your feet. It happened to me and it was no fun at all. A word to the wise, and enjoy all of the best that Walt Disney World has to offer.
